Excuse Me, What? / すみません、何？ follows a fictional learner whose carefully rehearsed Japanese collapses the moment it meets real conversation. Chopsticks become a bridge, “hot” comes out as “thick,” and three years of study somehow end with “I am an apple.” Driven by a drum-and-bass, taiko, and shakuhachi direction, the panic resolves into something braver than perfect pronunciation: the decision to keep speaking.
Excuse Me, What? / すみません、何？は、念入りに練習した日本語が、本物の会話に触れた瞬間に崩れていく架空の学習者の物語。箸は橋になり、「暑い」は「厚い」のように聞こえ、3年間の勉強はなぜか「私はりんごです」にたどり着く。ドラムンベースに太鼓と尺八を重ねた音のなか、パニックは完璧な発音よりも勇敢なもの——それでも話し続けるという決意へ変わっていく。
